Organic grape growing at Druivenkwekerij Nieuw Tuinzight

Druivenkwekerij Nieuw Tuinzight is an organic grape grower in Den Hoorn that has been growing the tastiest dessert grapes since 1885. The company’s 3,000 square meters of glasshouses hold around 1,500 grape vines. The first grapes are harvested in August and harvesting continues until mid November.
The owners, Arnold and Hilde Jansen, are very satisfied with their cooperation with Van der Wind. Arnold Jansen: ‘Although we are not a large customer, Van der Windt always works with us to ensure our grapes are presented in the best possible way in a suitable (organic) packaging.’

From May onwards tours of the glasshouses enable visitors to see and learn about organic grape growing. In the old grape greenhouse groups of (at least) 10 people can enjoy a lunch of genuine local produce and, naturally, the grapes are also on the table. As is grape juice and jams made from the company’s own grapes.

The grapes, which are sold in the nursery’s shop, are a unique local product and are now so well-known that customers come from far and wide specially for these organic Westland grapes. The shop is open from mid August to mid November.
