As the manufacturer of fully certificated biodegradable bags and packaging based on corn and potato starch, Van der Windt has gained considerable expertise in and experience of sustainable packaging. With the introduction of the Mondobags we are taking another step towards a responsible CSR policy in instances where biodegradable garbage bags are not an option. Mondobags garbage bags are made of LD and HD polyethylene. It goes without saying that the Mondobags are, to a great extent, made from recycled plastic. They also, thanks to a change in the material formula, use 30-40% less material than other garbage bags currently available.
The boxes in which the Mondobags are packed are made of paper that is environmentally-responsible and is, therefore, allowed to carry the FSC hallmark. By using less material, and because much of the material that is used is recycled, we are saving natural resources and limiting CO2 emissions. Unfortunately CO2 emissions cannot be entirely prevented, but they can be offset. In co-operation with Climate Neutral Group Van der Windt has developed a model through which the total CO2 emissions released in the chain, from raw material to waste disposal, is compensated. As a result the Mondobags are fully climate-neutral and contribute towards a better environment.
